Indian Institute of Information Technology, Sonepat (IIIT, Sonepat)

The Indian Institute of Information Technology, Sonepat (IIIT, Sonepat), situated in Sonepat, Delhi NCR, is among the prestigious Indian Institutes of Information Technology. Its academic journey commenced in 2014 under the mentorship of the National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, Haryana.
IIIT Sonepat is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, the Government of Haryana, and various industries operating under the Public-Private Partnership model. Recognized as an Institute of national importance, IIIT Sonepat is a beacon of excellence in information technology education and research.
History
On 18th March 2013, the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, presented a bill in Parliament to establish 20 new Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) across various regions of the country. According to the bill, these 20 new IIITs would be established under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode in collaboration with respective state governments and industry partners. Designated as Institutes of National Importance, these new IIITs aim to nurture highly skilled professionals of global calibre for the Information Technology Industry. Furthermore, they are anticipated to serve as significant drivers for the advancement of new knowledge in the field of Information Technology. Among the 20 new IIITs approved by the MHRD, the Indian Institute of Information Technology – Sonepat, Delhi NCR, commenced admitting students in 2014.
Admission to the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) is facilitated through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). Students are allocated seats by JoSAA based on their ranks in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Main). The Indian Institute of Information Technology, Sonepat, Haryana, is included in the list of participating institutes in the IIIT category on the JoSAA website.
